A new [Electrification Manifesto" was unveiled by Electrification Alliance

Today, the Electrification Alliance unveiled a fresh Manifesto that outlines crucial strategies aimed at expediting the adoption of efficient, direct electrification throughout Europe. The Manifesto proposes the establishment of a dedicated Electrification Action Plan within the first 100 days of the upcoming European Commission's term.

This Electrification Action Plan should establish a goal of achieving a 35% electrification rate in final energy consumption across the European Union by 2030. It should also ensure that electrification becomes an integral component of the National Energy and Climate Plans (NECPs) of Member States.

Additionally, the Manifesto urges the incoming Commission to increase investments in electricity grids. Europe needs to revamp its energy infrastructure planning, beginning with an immediate overhaul of the TEN-E Regulation and Ten-Year Network Development Plan procedures for both transmission and distribution system operators. Importantly, grid planning should be better coordinated and subject to increased political oversight to guarantee alignment with net zero objectives.

Other specific policy measures outlined in the Manifesto encompass initiatives to attract skilled professionals, prioritize efficient, direct electrification in the European Union's funding and financing programs, and empower end-users to fully harness demand side management.

The Electrification Alliance also bestowed its inaugural "European Electrification Award" upon Kadri Simson, European Commissioner for Energy, in recognition of her exceptional contributions to advancing the direct electrification of Europe's economy.
